Double Chocolate Cake Donuts
Ingredients (Donuts)
• 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
• ½ cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder
• ½ tsp baking powder
• ½ tsp baking soda
• ¼ tsp salt
• ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
• ½ cup (120ml) buttermilk (or milk + 1 tsp vinegar)
• 1 large egg
• ¼ cup (60ml) vegetable oil (or melted butter)
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• ½ cup (90g) mini chocolate chips
Chocolate Glaze
• 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
• ¼ cup (25g) unsweetened cocoa powder
• 3–4 tbsp milk
• ½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease a donut pan.
In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
In another bowl, whisk buttermilk, egg, oil, and vanilla. Add wet ingredients into dry, mixing gently. Fold in chocolate chips.
Spoon or pipe batter into donut pan, filling about ¾ full.
Bake 12–15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool in pan 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
For glaze, whisk powdered sugar, cocoa, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Dip cooled donuts in glaze, then let set. Optionally, sprinkle with extra chocolate chips.
