Cherry Pie Chocolate Dump Cake

Ingredients

1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling

1 box chocolate cake mix

½ cup unsalted butter, melted (or 1 stick sliced thin)

½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional but amazing)

½ tsp almond extract (optional – boosts the cherry flavor)

 

 

 

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. Spread cherry pie filling evenly in the bottom of the dish. Stir in almond extract if using.

3. Sprinkle the dry chocolate cake mix evenly over the cherries—do not mix.

4. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the cake mix (optional).

5. Drizzle melted butter evenly over the top, or place butter slices across the surface.

6. Bake 40–45 minutes, until the top looks set and slightly crisp with bubbling edges.

7. Let cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

Serving Ideas

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream

Drizzle with chocolate syrup

Add a spoonful of cherry preserves on top for extra cherry flavor

Variations

Black Forest Style: Add ½ cup chopped dark chocolate chunks

Crispy Top: Sprinkle chopped pecans or sliced almonds over the cake mix

Extra Fudgy: Use chocolate fudge cake mix.
